The path after crossing the Eastern Continental Divide is excellent in that the surface is solid and it runs downhill.
This was another pleasant surprise. I had heard of the M-D line but had never seen it up close.
This me and the other side of the Mason-Dixon line looking towards Maryland.

Something I learned about Maryland that made me wonder was that the state sport is jousting, http://www.msa.md.gov/msa/mdmanual/01glance/html/symbols/sport.html
While stopping at the Mason-Dixon I met a very nice family from New Jersey who were traveling the C&O trail and camping along the way. Ken, Gail and cute kids Alex and Anna. Great folks.
