Fort Fizzle

As I ride along this section of the trip I am becoming increasingly interested in the Nez Perce indian tribe. what happened to them is a great example of the conflict between what had been for many centuries being overturned by the developement of their part America which was initiated by the L/K expedition.
They seem to have tried a lot harder than any other tribe to make the relationship with the white men work in some way but it just did not happen.

The name alone was worth looking into and when I learned the story it showed that these folks did have a sense of humor. The location is between Lolo Pass and Missoula.

This gives an idea of how the various types of folks interacted with each other . It was a mixed bag of settlers, the military and the indians who all had their own agenda.
