The trail to Jerry Johnson warm springs

Bridge spanning the Lochsa river from Hwy 12 to the Jerry Johnson warm springs.

Path to warm springs. It is about 1.5 miles from the parking lot to the springs , much of it uphill.

As mentioned before I over heard some interesting info at a gas station/carryout in Kooskia onThurs eve from 3 young gentlemen sitting in a pickup with a bunch of empty beer cans in the bed. They were talking about natural warm springs in the area where people can go and sit in pools of hot water which are close to the Lochsa river. When I asked if anyone could go there they said something like "sure everyone goes there dude". "You should be there when the biker chicks and college coeds party up there man, it's a *********wild scene, no clothes, naked -that's what I 'm talking about".

Well, my Merrwether Lewis sense kicked in and I immediately knew just how he must have felt when he heard similar stories from local natives about unusual things in the area he happened to be. I made it my mission to check these warm springs out strictly for the geologic standpoint. The locals all said that although there were several warm spings in the area , Jerry Johnson camp ground was the best. You can camp there and walk a ways to the bridge across to the springs. When I finally got to JJ camp on Friday it was closed so I decided to stay as close as possible and explore this natural wonder the next day.
